Mother and Daughter Fly as Pilot and Co-Pilot on Same Flight

On July 23, 2022, Holly and Keely Petitt became the first mother and daughter to be pilot and co-pilot on the same flight for Southwest Airlines.
The pair flew passengers on Flight 3658 from Denver, Colorado — where the mother and daughter are from — to St. Louis, Missouri.
Holly, the pilot, began her career as a flight attendant for another airline, before realizing that she didn't just want to just work on planes — she wanted to fly them. While raising three children, she completed her training and started working as a pilot for Southwest, where she has now worked for 18 years.
When her daughter Keely was 14, Holly got her to take a "discovery flight," during which she was able to try flying a small plane with a teacher.
"I just fell in love with it," Keely said in a video for Southwest, adding that she immediately knew that this was what she wanted to do for the rest of her life.
And now that's exactly what she does.
In a press release, the airline praised Holly and Keely for empowering women of all ages to follow their dreams of a career in the sky.
