Facebook Adds Dating App 臉書新增約會功能 主持人：陳彣 (Neil) Article Facebook has announced it will add a dating service to its growing list of new products. The announcement came at Facebook’s F8 conference in San Jose, California. Facebook has considered adding a dating app for years. But founder Mark Zuckerberg said he felt now is the right time to begin the service. He said that currently, 1 in 3 marriages in the United States starts with an internet relationship. He added that the dating service will appear within the Facebook app, but users will have complete control over whether they want to use it. Internet dating is very popular in the U.S. Facebook says its app will provide strong competition to existing sites such as Match, Tinder and OkCupid. Zuckerberg said the dating app was designed with strong tools to protect the safety and privacy of Facebook users. During his opening comments at the conference, Zuckerberg repeated many times what he considers to be Facebook’s main goal. While some people simply enjoy sharing photos and videos with their friends and family, others see social media as a way to meet people and make new friends. For businesses, it's a way to talk to customers and find new ones. Here is some advice on how to get more followers! Use the right hashtags On most social media sites, when someone clicks a hashtag on a post, they can see the same hashtag used on other posts. Social media company Hootsuite suggests using around 11 hashtags on each post. You can use location hashtags like #Seoul or hashtags for each day of the week, such as #mondayblues or #fridayfun. Post at the right time Find out when the best time is to share your posts. For example, Sprout Social says posts shared on Instagram on Wednesdays at 11 a.m. and Fridays between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. get clicked the most. Posts on Twitter get clicked the most on Wednesdays and Fridays at 9 a.m. Stay active Research by marketing company Tailwind found that Instagram accounts that posted at least once a day got more likes and increased their follower numbers faster than those posting less often. Make sure your posts include good pictures and videos, and you should consider sharing live videos, as some research has found people spend a longer time watching them. Singapore Airlines May Offer Flights to Nowhere 新加坡航空可能推出「偽出國」航班 主持人：陳彣 (Neil) Article Singapore Airlines (SIA) is looking at offering flights that leave from and return to Singapore Changi Airport without landing anywhere else. According to The Straits Times, the flights would take around three hours, and could start by the end of October 2020. The Straits Times was also told that SIA may try to work with the Singapore Tourism Board to let passengers pay for part of their tickets using government tourism vouchers. Singaporeans are getting "SingapoRediscovers Vouchers" to spend at local restaurants, hotels, shops and attractions to help the tourism industry. Other airlines are already offering "flights to nowhere." In August, Japan's All Nippon Airways took passengers on a 90-minute flight to and from Tokyo's Narita Airport. Passengers were given a Hawaiian vacation experience at the airport and during the flight. In September, Tigerair Taiwan took about 120 passengers into the sky above the South Korean island of Jeju, which is about 1,000 kilometers from Taiwan, before returning home. Sky News reported that passengers had their temperatures checked before getting on the plane, and some wore traditional Korean clothing. Toy sales in the US rose 16% in the first half of 2020, according to research by The NDP Group. While sales changed little in January and February, they rose 16% in March as Americans started being asked to stay home. Toy sales were up 22% in April, 37% in May and 19% in June compared to the same time in 2019. It seems the growth has continued. US-based toy company Hasbro, which makes Transformers toys and Monopoly board games, saw a 21% increase in games sales in the third quarter, which ended in September. Another US-based toy company, Mattel, reported that its third-quarter sales were up 10% — its biggest increase in 10 years. Sales of the company's Barbie dolls were up 29%. Steve Pasierb, CEO of The Toy Association, told Marketplace there has been "huge growth" in the toy industry at a time when it is normally quiet. Pasierb said that he expects this to continue until Christmas because parents want their children to have "presents under the tree." Tokyo is the 3rd Most Expensive City for Expats 東京是第三昂貴的外派城市 主持人：陳彣 (Neil) Article Tokyo is the third most expensive city for expatriates, or "expats", according to Mercer's 2020 Cost of Living Survey. That's one spot lower than in 2019, when Tokyo was in second place. Hong Kong is the most expensive city for expats, while Ashgabat in Turkmenistan is now the second most expensive. Six of the top 10 cities this year are in Asia. Mercer figures out the cost of living for expats to help employers know what they should pay staff who are working in other countries. To find the cost of living, Mercer looks at the price of more than 200 goods and services in over 200 cities. Mercer includes things like housing, food, utilities, transportation, entertainment, and clothing. Each city is then compared with New York City to find its rank. The city of Tunis, Tunisia, is the least expensive city for expats in 2020. The second least expensive is Windhoek, Namibia, and third least expensive is Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Because the survey was done during the coronavirus pandemic, Mercer also found that people were buying some products more than usual, like cleaning products, entertainment products, and "comfort food" — food that's eaten because it tastes good and makes people feel better.
