Trinity College is a historic university in Dublin, Ireland, that was founded in 1592. The campus is in Dublin City Centre, close to the busy shopping of Grafton Street and the country’s parliament in Leinster House.
Trinity College has been named by Times Higher Education as the 17th most international university in the world, with students and staff from over 120 different countries. About 32% of Trinity College’s 17,000 students come from abroad.
Trinity College is also a popular Dublin tourist attraction. The school even plans to spend about $180,000 to make an app to help tourists explore the campus.
Each year, one million people go to the university to see the Book of Kells. This medieval manuscript is a Bible with beautiful pictures on almost every page.
Some of Ireland’s greatest writers went to Trinity College, including Oscar Wilde, Dracula author Bram Stoker, and Jonathan Swift, who wrote Gulliver’s Travels. The Republic of Ireland’s first female president, Mary Robinson, also went to Trinity College.
