We explore how adults and children can learn together through picture book shared reading. Each episode features a carefully selected storybook that serves as a foundation for the UNESCO “Greening Schools Curriculum,” offering a positive and hopeful way to nurture children's care for the Earth. As every skilled educator knows, effective teaching begins with what children already understand and care about. Through shared reading, adults can observe children’s learning in play, sparking conversations and further activities that deepen understanding. Just as emergent literacy begins with meaningful exposure to stories and print, emergent science education begins with hands-on experiences—such as observation, play, and sensory exploration. These experiences help children make sense of the natural world and cultivate a lifelong curiosity about how it works.
